Carbon Reduction Plan

Supplier Name: Maxlife Care Ltd
Publication Date: December 2025
Commitment to Net Zero: 2050

  1. Commitment to Achieving Net Zero

Maxlife Care Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, in accordance with the UK Government’s legally binding target under the Climate Change Act 2008 (as amended by the Climate Change Act 2019). We recognize the urgent need to address climate change and are dedicated to playing our part in the transition to a low-carbon economy.

As a healthcare provider, we understand that the health and wellbeing of our service users and communities is intrinsically linked to the health of our planet. Climate change poses significant risks to public health, and we are committed to reducing our environmental impact while continuing to deliver high-quality care services.

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been prepared in accordance with PPN 06/21 – Procurement Policy Note: Taking Account of Carbon Reduction Plans in the Procurement of Major Government Contracts, and outlines our approach to measuring, managing, and reducing our carbon emissions.

  1. Baseline Emissions Footprint

We have established our baseline carbon footprint in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard. Our baseline year is 2023, and emissions are categorized into the following scopes:

Baseline Year: 2023

Scope 1 Emissions (Direct Emissions)

Emissions from sources that are owned or controlled by Maxlife Care Ltd:

  • Company-owned vehicles and fleet operations used for care visits
  • Natural gas consumption in office facilities
  • Refrigerant losses from air conditioning units

Scope 2 Emissions (Energy Indirect Emissions)

Emissions from the generation of purchased electricity consumed by Maxlife Care Ltd:

  • Electricity consumption in office buildings and facilities
  • Purchased heat and cooling (if applicable)

Scope 3 Emissions (Other Indirect Emissions)

Emissions that occur in our value chain, including:

  • Employee commuting and business travel
  • Waste generated in operations
  • Purchased goods and services (medical supplies, PPE, office supplies)
  • Water supply and treatment
  • Upstream transportation and distribution
  • Third-party care worker travel (where applicable)

Note: We are committed to improving our emissions data collection and reporting processes to ensure comprehensive coverage of all material emission sources across our operations and supply chain.

  1. Current Emissions Reporting

We report our greenhouse gas emissions in tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e) annually. Our emissions are calculated using the UK Government’s conversion factors for company reporting and methodologies aligned with the GHG Protocol.

Our current reporting covers:

  • All Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions from our operations;
  • Material categories of Scope 3 emissions, with ongoing efforts to expand coverage;
  • Emissions intensity metrics (e.g., tCO2e per care hour delivered, tCO2e per employee);
  • Year-on-year comparison against baseline and interim targets.
  1. Emissions Reduction Measures Completed or Underway

We have implemented a comprehensive range of measures to reduce our carbon emissions across our operations:

  • Partnership with waste contractors to maximize recycling rates
  • Procurement of products with recycled content

4.5 Sustainable Procurement

  • Supplier engagement program to understand and reduce supply chain emissions
  • Prioritization of local suppliers to reduce transportation emissions
  • Inclusion of carbon reduction criteria in tender evaluations
  • Sustainable PPE and medical supplies procurement
  • Product lifecycle assessments for major purchases

4.6 Digital Transformation

  • Electronic care planning and documentation systems
  • Virtual meetings and remote working technologies to reduce travel
  • Digital training platforms reducing the need for in-person sessions
  • Cloud-based systems with energy-efficient data centers
  1. Carbon Reduction Targets

Maxlife Care Ltd has set ambitious science-based targets aligned with limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels:

Short-term Target (by 2030)

30% absolute reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions from 2023 baseline
25% reduction in Scope 3 emissions intensity (per care hour delivered)

Medium-term Target (by 2040)

60% absolute reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions from 2023 baseline
50% reduction in Scope 3 emissions intensity

Long-term Target (by 2050)

Net Zero emissions across all scopes (Scope 1, 2, and 3)
This includes at least 90% absolute emissions reduction, with any residual emissions neutralized through verified carbon removal projects
